MFC Survival Gets to Grips with Water Rescue On 21st September 2009 four staff from water rescue equipment manufacturer MFC Survival spent a day training at the Nene Whitewater Centre in Northamptonshire.
The Company had enlisted the services of AssetCo Technical Rescue formerly RIGG Systems, and trainer Richard Helleur from Cornwall Fire Brigade to provide Frances Hilton, Roger Brereton, Ward Byrne and Andrew Macphail with some serious swiftwater rescue experience. The idea behind the training day was to give these members of staff a greater understanding of how MFC Survival's equipment is deployed infield (or inwater in this case!). An added benefit would be an increased confidence when talking to customers about the key benefits and applications of the MFC product range. Equipment used during the training session included the Airtrack, the Rescue Sled, Personal Flotation Devices, Rescue Stick and Throw Lines. Techniques learnt by the intrepid four included ways of rescuing people who had fallen overboard from a boat. All agreed this was a valuable experience in demonstrating the powerful force and danger of water. Whilst it was good fun it also gave a first hand appreciation of how MFC Survival water rescue equipment performed in swift water rescue, and an understanding of some of the challenges faced by the emergency services on a daily basis. MFC Survival would like to thank the Nene Valley Whitewater Centre and AssetCo for their help and support on this extremely worthwhile day.
